Tea and Black Pages

Hello there! I haven't been able to update before today, because I haven't been able to take any pictures of my wreckings. It has always been too dark when I've been at home and the pictures taken without natural light just don't look good or right to me.

So what have I been doing lately? On Monday I bought some tea from the cafeteria. When I was drinking my tea I had no place to put the used tea bag - except my journal!

Tea art.
I'm not a very good drawer as you can see... But I tried all the same. So the funny looking brown stain is from the bottom of the tea bag. After it had dried I drew the mug, plate and table and coloured the whole thing. I also added the label from the tea bag, I think it looks nice. The text on the left says aamutee 24.10.-11 which means "morning tea 24th October 2011."

I have also decorated the edges of a drawn journal similarly to the decorations on the actual edges of the journal, as I said I would do(if you understood that sentence, congratulations!). I didn't use the same pens as doodling on the real edges, because they were too big for the small picture. I tried to use as similar colours as possible though.

Before - After
When I was watching TV the other day, I continued the scratching page. The first flower I did is the one in the far left. I think it's the best one of them and I'm doing more and more badly every time I try to scratch more... I also coloured the letters on the right page while watching TV. It says I should lose the page, but I haven't been able to accept the loss yet, so it has stayed on the journal - for now.

Scratch and colour on black.
The last but not least the fruit sticker page has been updated a little bit. I went to the shop on Tuesday and bought some apples and grapes. The grapes still didn't have any stickers on them, which is sad. I also noticed that only bananas, apples and very expensive kiwis seem to have stickers on them. I like to eat kiwis, but the cheaper ones didn't have stickers on them... Maybe that was the reason for them being cheaper? Cause of course the stickers aren't free!

Picture Spamming

Hello again! I haven't done any wrecking today (yet), but I took some pictures from the older stuff while it wasn't yet too dark.

Here's the doodlings on the edge of the journal, which I already mentioned in a previous post.

Green and blue circles with some girly pink colour on the background.

It was very difficult to get a good picture from them, but I hope that you can see something from this. I've also planned to doodle the page same way as the edges, but we'll see if that is ever going to happen...

Lately I've been adding some colour to the journal. I like to colour things, it's nice and relaxing. I've done all of these while watching TV... I'm not sure if these following pages are finished yet or not, but time will tell.

Coloured letters in the beginning of the journal.
And pink again, girly... Maybe I should do the left page with pink too.
Well obviously the left one above isn't quite finished yet... I have some trouble with choosing the right colour for that page. Though I had problems with the right one too, but I think the result looks quite nice. I still might add something to it, but of course not inside the circle.

I'd say these aren't finished yet. I'll sew that page more when I get some great ideas.
The pages seen above are probably my favourite ones at the moment. The scratching isn't even nearly finished, I think I will decorate the whole page with flowers. Though the scratching isn't too easy thing to do... The sewed dinosaur reminds me of my childhood. I remember when I was little and did these sewing pictures with dogs and cats. I have to say that this dinosaur is much more original, rawr.

Glue with glitter, the best thing ever.
This one isn't quite finished yet. Or actually I haven't even started, 'cause it says I have to draw with the glue and I have only done some writing. This page needs some thinking, because I don't want it to end up ugly. I also think that I have to buy more glitter glue or just glitter so I can make the page look interesting, not just plain white.
I wonder if I should try to connect them in different order...
The above one was quite fun but still difficult to do. You would think that it is quite easy 'cause the dots are so big, but as you can see, I didn't make it, at the first time anyway. I think the hardest part was to change the page. But as I said, this was very fun to do, so I'm sure I will do this times and times again. I may even let someone else try to do this in my journal.

So those were the pretty, nice and colourful pictures. The next one will be fugly and boring and fugly again, at least in my opinion.

Fuglyyy :(
The left one is the name page I mentioned in an earlier post, and I hate it.

It says: write your name
- in white
- illegibly
- in tiny letters
- backward
- very faintly
-using large letters

The page on the right is for borrowed pens. It says holiday (=loma) and Emilia's (=Emilian). So I wrote holiday using Emilia's pens.

I have to tell you I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so you can understand my pain with the brown letters? You might have noticed that my name is Saara and the first brown letter doesn't look anything like S. Horrible. Though I think I might like the illegible one (second from the top)... Somehow I also don't like the right one either. I hope that it gets prettier when I get to borrow more pens.

And finally the last thing for now: the fruit sticker page! I have made some progress as you can see. It looks like I eat only bananas... Well I've eaten some grapes too, but there's no stickers in those, so poor me. Next time I go shopping I have to buy some fruit with stickers, but definitely not bananas. It's not a banana page after all.

The First Wreckings

It's time to see my first wreckings.

The first thing I did was adding my own page numbers (which was one of the tasks), but I don't have pics of them, 'cause the numbers I did don't look very interesting.

On the first day I also did:
- write my name in various styles (I'll show a pic later.)
- some doodlings on the edges of the journal (Same goes with this.)
- infuse one of the pages with eau de toilette (No pic, 'cause you can't see the smell, obviously.)
- take the book to the shower with me (This didn't go at all as planned - the journal didn't get wet at all! So maybe more on this later.)

But I do have some pics to share with you. First one is my fruit sticker page, which gave the URL-name to this blog. So here is the first picture of the page (there'll be more of this, I'm sure):

The second pic from the first wrecking day is as follows. I coloured the strips and cut them apart. After that I glued the upper part of that page with the next page, which says: glue, staple or tape these pages together.

Strips on 13/10/11. I hope they won't fall off during my wrecking process.

So was the first day of wrecking in my life. I still have some pictures in store, because I wasn't wise enough to start this blog at the same time as I started wrecking. So I might post quite frequently for now.

The Start

Some time ago I bought Wreck This Journal to brighten up the boring moments of my life. I want to share and document this experience, hence I created this blog. I don't know if anyone will read this, but at least I have a place to write my thoughts on wrecking.

This is what has happened so far:
05/10/11 - WTJ ordered and paid.
13/10/11 - WTJ brought by post.
21/10/11 - Blog.

This is how the journal looked like when I got it.

What is WTJ?
WTJ is a book by Keri Smith. The idea of the book is to create and destroy with various different styles. There is a task at every page and they are all about being creative and destructive at the same time. Here's a link: http://www.wreckthisjournal.com/
